Compete in one of the most competitive and widely respected pro-development leagues in the country—home to MLS academy teams, pro scouts, and real opportunities to go further.
Largest Pro-Development League in North America: Founded in 2011, the UPSL has grown to nearly 400 clubs competing nationwide, making it the largest and most competitive pro-development league in North America.
Pathway to Professional Careers: The UPSL has been a launching pad for players advancing to professional levels. Notably: Alex Alcala, formerly of LA Galaxy Academy's UPSL team, signed a five-year deal with Manchester City FC.
MLS Academy Participation: As of 2024, thirteen MLS clubs have integrated their academy teams into the UPSL, including D.C. United Academy, Philadelphia Union, LA Galaxy and LAFC, enhancing the league's competitive landscape.
International Player Transfers: The UPSL has facilitated player movements to top European leagues. For instance, Caleb Wiley, who played for Atlanta United U19s in the UPSL Premier Division, transferred to Chelsea FC in the English Premier League.
Promotion and Relegation: With 400 teams nationwide, across Division One and Division Two, each UPSL team is independently owned and operated and has both the opportunity to be promoted and relegated each year. The league consists of two seasons each calendar year, with the Spring season beginning in March and a Fall season beginning in September with national playoffs in December.
